The 2008 Western States Surety Conference will be held on Thursday and Friday, April 10-11, 2008, in Seattle, Washington.  The pre-conference dinner will be held at the Waterfront Seafood Grill at Pier 70 (Waterfront Seafood Grill | Pier 70) on Thursday, April 10, 2008.  This year's conference will be held at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center (www.bellharbor.org) on Friday, April 11, 2008.  The Conference Center is located at Pier 66 on the downtown Seattle waterfront and is Seattle’s premier waterfront conference location.  The Conference Center is adjacent to the Marriott Seattle Waterfront (Marriott Seattle Waterfront) where we have a block of guestrooms reserved for our out-of-town attendees (Reservations).

Some of the topics to be addressed will include: project default issues faced by the Surety including pre-default negotiations with the principal and indemnitors, pre-default dilemmas created by recent court decisions, financing and takeover considerations, "volunteering" concerns, the duty of good faith, issues faced by Sureties arising from the housing market "crash," and the impact of LEED and green construction requirements on the Surety.

As in the past, the Program will be both informative and entertaining.  The written materials will address current cases and trends and will include our annual update on surety and fidelity law in the western states.
